An office for advancing the construction of Shanghai into a scientific and technological innovation center was officially established on Sept 29.

Developing Shanghai into a scientific and technological innovation center with global influence is a national strategy that aims to improve the country's technological and innovative capacities.

The new office is in charge of coordinating and advancing the overall work concerning this strategy, including related policies, key measures, projects and activities.

So far, it has promoted the launch of a number of scientific projects such as Zhangjiang Pharmaceutical Lab, Pudong Advanced Energy and Power Research Center, Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, and Zhu Guangya Strategic Technology Institute.
