Xi to attend gathering marking 40th anniversary of Message to Compatriots in Taiwan

BEIJING, Dec 31 — President Xi Jinping will attend a gathering to commemorate the 40th anniversary of issuing Message to Compatriots in Taiwan, scheduled for Wednesday morning in Beijing.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver a speech at the gathering, to be held at the Great Hall of the People at 10 am on January 2.
