Mainland important market for Taiwan farm produce: producers

TAIPEI - The Chinese mainland is the most important outbound market for Taiwan farm produce, according to agricultural producers at a food fair that opened here Wednesday.
The producers expressed hope that sound relations across the Taiwan Straits can help their products sell better on the mainland.
"We hope the mainland and Taiwan can step up cooperation in the field of agriculture and achieve win-win results," said Eric Kuei, who is in charge of a co-operative for vegetables and fruits in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan.
Producers of brown rice from Taitung, east Taiwan, said they have confidence in their products and now the key is to get access to the mainland market.
Taiwan farm produce such as sub-tropical fruits, rice, and tea are known among consumers on the mainland.
