Zhejiang province recently made major breakthroughs in its clinical research project involving the use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat COVID-19 patients, with three TCM prescriptions being approved by the Zhejiang Medical Products Administration for clinical use.

The three prescriptions were developed by famous national and provincial TCM physicians from the Tongde Hospital of Zhejiang Province (Zhejiang Provincial TCM Research Institute), and are used to treat patients with mild illnesses, critically-ill patients, and recovering patients.

They are currently being used to treat 160 patients in nine designated hospitals throughout the province. Significant improvements have been seen in their symptoms, which include fever, cough, and fatigue.

Tongde Hospital said it will continue to use TCM clinically and analyze its effects to enhance its role in the fight against the epidemic.
