An ice and snow carnival kicked off in Mingcui Lake National Wetland Park, located in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on Saturday, marking the arrival of winter solstice.
With the park decorated in snow and ice, hundreds of people performed a combination of traditional Chinese martial arts movements and other dances. The oldest performer was 70 years old.
Yinchuan is promoting the development of sports and tourism based on its ice and snow resources. Many parks have been opened to the public to provide space for ice sports.
For example, an ice and snow sports competition will be held for primary and secondary school students.
