Ice carnival kicks off in Inner Mongolia

The 15th Arxan Ice Carnival grandly kicked off on Monday, the day of winter solstice on the Chinese lunar calendar, in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The carnival unfolds in Arxan Forest Park, where tourists can try snowmobiling and skiing, eating in carriage-shaped restaurants and playing with their pets. They can also enjoy the winter views and try hot spring bathing.
Arxan is located in eastern part of Inner Mongolia, where temparature can plunge to -40 C in winter. Arxan is also know as Arshaan in Mongolian, meaning hot spring. The carnival will last until February.
