The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has signed an agreement with Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City to set up a diving training base in Sanya. The headquarters of PADI China will also settle in Hainan within the year.

"PADI hopes to take this opportunity to introduce Hainan to global divers, as well as to bring more overseas divers to Hainan, bolstering Sanya as a diving destination with a global reputation," said Lou Yan, president of PADI China.

PADI is the world's largest diving training and tourism service organization, with more than 6,000 diving centers and resort operation centers in 186 countries and regions around the world. To date, it has trained approximately 27 million PADI divers.
