Official: Beijing must keep up virus vigilance

Beijing has "no room for relaxation" in the fight against imported COVID-19, Xu Hejian, the municipal government spokesman, said on Wednesday at a news conference. The city reported two new COVID-19 patients.
The patients, who were found positive in routine testing, are staff member in high-risk positions at the port of entry for international flights.
"The general COVID-19 situation in Beijing is controllable, as the two new patients were detected among closed-loop management personnel, but it reminds us once again that the prevention and control of the pandemic in the city can never slacken," he said.
Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, said the two patients were sent to a designated hospital for further medical observation and treatment.
Related venues at risk have been disinfected and close contacts have been quarantined, Liu said.
The two nucleic acid test results came back positive on Tuesday and the individual infections were confirmed with mild symptoms on Wednesday, Liu said.
