Shanghai reports one new case


Shanghai reported one locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 case outside quarantine zones on Thursday.
The case was a 46-year-old female living in Yangpu district according to Wu Qianyu, an official from the Shanghai Health Commission.
By 4 pm Thursday, 142 close contacts and 172 secondary contacts of the case had been identified and quarantined, 150 of whom have tested negative so far.
The residence where the patient lived, the No 6 Community, Lane 399, Guoxia road, Xinjiangwancheng sub-district, Yangpu district, was classified as high-risk area. The places where she had been, No 158, 160 and 162, Minxing road, Changhai road sub-district, Yangpu district, were listed as medium-risk areas.
As the new semester will begin at local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools on Sept 1, livestream classes and other remote education content will be provided for students in quarantine, said Wang Hao, deputy head of the district, at a news conference on Thursday.
Teachers and students' mental health during online learning will be taken care of by a 24-hour hotline and other services at school, Wang said.
