Italy's Rossini wins women's foil individual title
CHENGDU - Serena Rossini of Italy won the women's foil individual gold at the Chengdu Universiade here on Thursday.
The final witnessed a tense battle between Rossini and her compatriot Elena Tangherlini.
"She's not just my teammate but one of my best friends. We grew up together, we live really close to each other. I think the difference is just the mindset," said Rossini, who added that her psychology studies helped her with the mental aspect of performance.
"It helps me get a better mindset. I suffer from my broken knee for several years, I did a lot of training to come back. It's a fantastic victory for me," added Rossini.
Chen Qingyuan of China and South Korea's Sim So-eun shared the bronze medals.
Kendrick Jean-Joseph of France won the men's epee individual gold, with Yan Sych of Ukraine pocketing the silver. Xiu Yuhan of China and France's Luidgi Midelton shared the bronze medals.
