As a major event of the 37th Taishan Mountain International Climbing Festival, the Taishan Mountain climbing race was held on Wednesday, attracting over 10,000 people competing for glory.
Zhu Bingying from Henan province won the championship in the youth women's group with one hour 14 minutes 44 seconds. Meanwhile Meng Guangfu from Guizhou province won the championship in the youth men's group with one hour 5 minutes 52 seconds.
The youth group runners needed to cover a journey of 8.6 kilometers ending at Jade Emperor Peak, the summit of Taishan Mountain.
"The Taishan race is a distinctive one because the course is all steps, which requires us to maintain a better rhythm," said Meng.
The festival began in Tai'an, Shandong province on Tuesday. Initiated in 1987, the festival has developed into a comprehensive platform that offers rich activities including climbing competitions, exhibitions, and cultural and sports performances.
