Brazilian president to visit China

BEIJING -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of the Federative Republic of Brazil will pay a state visit to China from May 10 to 14, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson announced on Saturday.

BEIJING -- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will pay a state visit to China on May 10-14 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
Born on Oct 27, 1945, in Brazil's Pernambuco state, Lula led the labor movement and participated in founding the Workers' Party of Brazil in his early years. He once served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil.
Lula was elected as Brazil's 35th president in October 2002 and secured re-election in 2006. In October 2022, he won a third presidential term and took office on Jan 1, 2023.
