Shanghai Disney Resort shares the creative journey behind Duffy and Friends
Shanghai Disney Resort unveiled the creative journey behind its Duffy and Friends series on Monday during its annual Duffy Month celebration, highlighting how these characters have captured hearts worldwide with annual merchandise sales exceeding $500 million.
The franchise, marking Duffy's 20th anniversary this year, has expanded from a single teddy bear — crafted by Minnie Mouse for Mickey's sailing adventures — into a family of seven distinct characters.
"Duffy and Friends are more than just plush toys; they embody deep emotional connections," Olivia Sim, executive director of commercial strategy and global development of Disney Parks International, said. "Each character is carefully designed to bring unique perspectives and emotions to the Duffy family."
