Jianjiangyan irrigation system added to world heritage list

The Jianjiangyan irrigation system in Pengzhou, Sichuan province was designated a World Heritage Irrigation Structure on Wednesday at the 76th International Executive Council Meeting of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Honghe Hani Rice Terraces in Yunnan province, the Chishan Lake irrigation project in Jiangsu province, and the Yongding River ancient canal irrigation project in Beijing were also included on the list at the meeting, raising the number of such Chinese facilities to 42, according to data from the Ministry of Water Resources.
