Drone racing spectacle set to thrill Shanghai

The much-anticipated 2025 FAI Drone Racing World Cup will take place on Sept 24 at Jiangwan Stadium in Yangpu district, bringing together top UAV pilots from around the world to showcase a thrilling blend of speed, technology, and artistry.
The Shanghai leg, the 11th stop in the series, marks the competition's debut in China and is part of a 13-event tour spanning 12 countries and regions.
This cutting-edge event combines optics, mechanics, electronics, communication, and image transmission technologies. Pilots navigate their drones using VR goggles, experiencing a first-person view as they race through challenging courses filled with obstacles. The goal is to complete the course in the shortest time, promising an exhilarating "aerial F1" showdown.
The competition will feature multi-rotor drone racing across three categories: open, youth, and women's divisions. Over four days, pilots will face off in qualifying rounds, elimination stages, and finals, with champions being crowned on Sept 27.
Beyond the racing action, attendees can enjoy special promotions, including discounts in nearby shopping areas and accommodations for ticket holders. The final day will also feature a drone technology exhibition, highlighting regional specialties and culinary delights.
