On Sept 19, the 2025 International Youth Poetry Festival (Special Session for China-Latin American Countries) Poetry Symposium was held at the National Museum of Modern Chinese Literature in Beijing, attracting 40 young poets from 15 Latin American countries and 37 young Chinese poets.
Presiding over the event co-hosted by the China Writers Association and the Shanxi Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party of Shaanxi Provincial Committee, Zhang Hongsen, chairman and Party secretary of the China Writers Association, said the event aims to actively put the Global Civilization Initiative into practice. Through poetry exchanges, the event seeks to promote mutual learning among civilizations and foster people-to-people connections, contributing to the development of the China–Latin American community with a shared future.
At the symposium, poets from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela and China shared their poetic creations and perspectives.
They remarked that their trip to China allowed them to experience up close the profound heritage and enchanting charm of Chinese culture. They also felt the sincerity and friendliness of the Chinese people and the dynamism of Chinese society deeply. From the modern look of the ancient capital Xi’an to the grand and poetic Qinling Mountains and the prosperous yet quaint charm of Beijing, these unique cultural landscapes deeply moved their hearts and provided fresh inspiration for their future creations.
