Dongguan team wins FIBA Women's Basketball Asia League


The Dongguan New Century Club women's basketball team won the 2025 FIBA Women's Basketball League Asia in Dongguan, Guangdong province, on Sunday, defeating Japan's Fujitsu Red Wave with a score of 95-67.
Chinese player Yang Shuyu was awarded MVP of the six-day tournament, during which six teams from Asia competed at the Dongguan Gymnasium.
After winning the Asian tournament, the Dongguan team will represent the Guangdong delegation to compete in the upcoming women's basketball event at the 15th National Games, which are set to open on Nov 9.
This year's games will be the first in history to be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
The events will be spread across 19 cities, with most in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
