The Hitch Open World AI Championships concluded on Saturday on the treacherous 99-turn road of Zhangjiajie's Tianmen Mountain in Hunan province, where seven university teams successfully steered their autonomous algorithms from the laboratory to the challenging mountain road.
Amid lingering rain and mist, the event tested the limits of artificial intelligence against one of the world's most challenging circuits.
Tsinghua University's "Extreme Racing" team clinched the championship with an optimized AI algorithm, setting a new autonomous world record for the course with a lap time of 16 minutes and 10.838 seconds.
