Trade corridor sees surge in road freight
The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a key logistics route connecting western China to global markets, reported a massive surge in cross-border road transport from January to October this year. The number of truck trips exceeded 11,000, with cargo value surpassing 15 billion yuan ($2.12 billion), up 200 percent and 450 percent year-on-year, respectively. The data were revealed at the 2025 China (Chongqing)-ASEAN Logistics Industry Cooperation Conference on Wednesday.
Equipment upgrade boosts efficiency
Chinese railway operators are improving technological innovations to optimize transport efficiency and safety. China Railway Taiyuan Group has made technological equipment innovation a core means to lift transport safety. Staff members of Xiaonan Railway Station under Jiexiu Railway Section have put in place a shunting operation auxiliary boarding device to replace the previous foot-leading mode — a traditional pain point in shunting. The device is easy to carry and install, and perfectly fits the side ladder of a flatcar, significantly improving the shunting efficiency of the station. The equipment upgrade has helped reduce the labor input of shunters, and has provided technical support for safer shunting operations.
