Sinologists and literary experts from China and Russia gathered in Moscow recently to discuss new partnerships in copyright protection and civilizational mutual learning.

Held on Dec 11 at the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, the seminar also featured an exhibition of excellent Chinese literature and drama works.

Co-hosted by the China Written Works Copyright Society (CWWCS), the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, the Russian Academy of Translation, and the Moscow State University (MSU), the event attracted numerous Russian sinologists, children's literature writers, publishing representatives and cultural figures.

CWWCS has collaborated with various parties—including the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, MSU, St. Petersburg State University, the Russian Academy of Translation, publishing organizations, sinologists, and other institutions—to undertake copyright cooperation and exchange activities. By means of copyright trade and promotion, it has introduced and exported multiple outstanding literary and drama works to both countries. For example, it facilitated the export of the Russian drama rights for Mo Yan's Frog and Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out.

The exhibition showcased over 40 ongoing plays, such as Mo Yan's Crocodile, Liang Xiaosheng's A Lifelong Journey, Chi Zijian's The Last Quarter of the Moon, Bi Feiyu's Massage, Dong Xi's Echo, and Ma Boyong's The Litchi Road. These works have achieved great success in both book publications and adaptations into dramas and films.

The event further consolidated exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia in the fields of copyright and culture, outlined new prospects for people-to-people and cultural exchanges and civilizational mutual learning between the two countries, and enriched the connotation of the "China-Russia Cultural Year".
