Chinese shares started higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opening at 3,766.48 points, up 22.52 points, or 0.6 percent.

The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 3,743.96 points on Wednesday.
