Japan has filed a request for consultation on China's anti-dumping measures against its high-performance stainless steel seamless tubes under the World Trade Organization's dispute-settlement mechanism.

Japan said China's action is "a clear violation" of certain provisions of the Anti-Dumping Agreement, as well as other relevant WTO rules, the Geneva-based WTO said in a statement on Thursday.

China and Japan could hold consultations on related disputes within the next 60 days, according to WTO regulations.

On Nov 8, China's Ministry of Commerce announced the final results of anti-dumping cases on high-performance stainless steel seamless pipes from the European Union and Japan.

It said that 9.2 percent and 14.4 percent anti-dumping duties would be levied on the pipes from the EU and Japan, respectively, starting from Nov 9, with a five-year implementation period.
