Welders work hard to make a living

Welders at a construction site in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province are working far from home. They are from a village in Binzhou, East China's Shandong province.

To provide for their families they have traveled to a strange city to find work and every day put in a more than 12-hour shift which can earn them about 10,000 yuan ($1,612) per month.

Although they wear a protective mask to avoid burns from their welding guns, their faces are tanned by the harsh light and heat.
