BEIJING: Authorities will make their best efforts to satisfy foreign media's interview requests about the annual session of China's top legislature this year, an official said on Monday.

The "two sessions" - the third session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) and the third session of the 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) - will convene on March 5 and March 3 in Beijing.

The NPC is the top legislative body in China, while the CPPCC is a broad-based national advisory organization consisting of experts and citizens.

The CPPCC plays a supervisory role and accepts suggestions and criticisms, which relate to major state affairs and policies and other important issues.

"We will try our best to assist the foreign media to cover the NPC session by helping them arrange interviews with delegates and organizing press conferences on the topics that interest them," He Shaoren, deputy director of the information office of NPC's standing committee, told China Daily.

An Indian reporter said he is most interested in the actions China will take to balance the economic growth between urban and rural areas.

"India is facing the same challenge," Ananth Krishnan, a reporter from The Hindu, India's national newspaper, told China Daily on Monday.

The press center will provide free Internet access, books and information materials about the sessions to all reporters.

About 3,000 NPC delegates representing 1.3 billion Chinese will be gathering in Beijing to make plans for China's future.
