Canada hails China's decision on RMB exchange rate reform

OTTAWA - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement on Saturday, welcoming China's decision to enhance the flexibility of its currency RMB's exchange rate.

"This is an important step forward and its full implementation will contribute to strong, sustainable and balanced global growth," said Haper.

"We look forward to additional steps by G-20 countries at the Toronto summit to improve the economic prospects of all of our citizens," he added.

The People's Bank of China, China's central bank, earlier on Saturday announced a decision to proceed further with the reform of the exchange rate regime to enhance the flexibility of the RMB' s exchange rate.
