Senior official urges harsher anti-graft fight

(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-03-04 19:39

BEIJING - Wang Qishan, head of the Communist Party of China's disciplinary organ, on Tuesday called for stepped-up efforts to crack down on corruption.

Wang made the remarks while participating in a panel discussion with political advisors from the China Democratic League and the China Association for Promoting Democracy at the ongoing annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.

Wang, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), said the CPC central leadership had stuck to the principle that the Party must exercise self-discipline and be strict with its members, and had redoubled efforts to improve the Party's work style, build a clean government and fight corruption.

The eight-point bureaucracy- and formalism-fighting guidelines put forth by the CPC Central Committee in late 2012 must be earnestly implemented, he said.

Wang said he hopes political advisors can play their own roles in democratic oversight and contribute to the country's anti-corruption drive.
