Chinese firm to make popular game into film

(ECNS) Updated: 2014-07-29 08:14

Chinese animation firm Mili Pictures is planning to adapt the popular game "Zombies vs. Plants" for the big screen, reports the Guangzhou Daily.

Gao Song, assistant director of the Suzhou-based company, said at a press conference that they have been cooperating with the game's developer PopCap about developing the film.

Mili Pictures will shoulder most of the work, including editing and writing scripts, Gao said, adding that the concept trailer has been finished and posted online.

"Chinese firms have been involved in several successful Hollywood animated films, including How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda," Gao said. "They have reached international standards, but lack support in creativity, investment and marketing."

The popular game involves a homeowner using a variety of different plants to prevent an army of zombies from entering their house and "eating our brains."
