Monk concerned about online misinformation

"Anyone can write about the Shaolin temple or Buddhism or myself online,"

Shi Yongxin, principal abbot of Shaolin Temple, expressed his annoyance in an interview during the two sessions.

False information about the Shaolin Temple and Buddhism can be found everywhere on the Internet and is very confusing for the public. Shi suggested that any platform like an online encyclopedia that can be edited by the public should limit the editorial power over content relating to Buddhism strictly to religious groups or authorities.

He believes regulating online information about Buddhism will lead to greater respect for the religion.
