China will have 24 million more males reaching marriageable age than females in 2020, according to the 2010 "Society Blue Book" released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the People's Daily reported Thursday. China is in a crisis of demographic imbalance among the population under the age of 19. When they reach marriage age, millions of males, most of them poor, will struggle to find a wife. |
