Zhejiang province is briefly named as Zhe, with the Hangzhou as its provincial seat. Zhejiang is one of the most flourishing economic areas in China, with full development of both light and heavy industries. The pillar industries of Zhejiang include textile, garment, leather processing, machinery manufacturing, electronics and communication equipment making, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals etc. Zhejiang one of the first provinces to develop rural and township enterprises in China, with overall development level of rural and township enterprises ranking the first in the country. With agriculture based on grain production, Zhejiang’s main crops include rice, wheat, maize, and jute etc, and Zhejiang is the first in the production volume of tea in China. In 2008, Zhejiang’s GDP totals RMB 2.1107 trillion, the average annual salary per employee is RMB 35,730.
浙江省簡稱浙, 省會城市是杭州。浙江是中國經濟最活躍的地區之一，輕、重工業得到充分發展。紡織業、服裝業、皮革業、機械制造業、電子及通信設備制造業、石化、醫藥業等是主要支柱產業。浙江是全國最早發展鄉鎮企業的省份之一，全省的鄉鎮企業總體發展水平已躍居全國第一。農業以糧食生產為主，主要作物有水稻、麥類、玉米、黃麻等，茶葉產量居全國第一。浙江全省2008年的生產總值為21107億元，比上年增長10%左右，人均GDP達35730元。
Zhejiang Province got its name from Qiantang River. The tide surge of Qiantang River is a unique natural sight in China. Zhejiang province is abundant in mineral resources, with nonmetal minerals as the mainstay. The deposit reserve volumes of 12 categories of minerals are among the top three of the country. Zhejiang province has formed comprehensive traffic network with synchronized development of water, land and land transportation with railways as the backbone. The network of trunk highways has formed “a 4-hour radium traffic circle” that connects the provincial seat with the surrounding cities. The Ningbo Beilun Port is the most optimal and largest transit base for import of iron ore. Hangzhou, as the provincial seat, won the good name of “silk capital”. It is political, economic, cultural and science and technology center of the province, an important central city in the Yangtze River delta region and a transportation hub in southeast China. It won the title of “Viable Economy City of China” in 2004.
浙江省得名錢塘江，錢江涌潮更是中國獨一無二的自然景觀。浙江省礦產資源豐富，以非金屬礦產為主，有12種礦產儲量位于全國前三位，浙江省已形成以鐵路為骨干水陸空并舉的綜合交通網，公路干線網形成省會杭州至各市之間的“4小時公路交通圈”，寧波北侖港是中國目前最好、最大的進口鐵礦石中轉基地。
