眾所周知，副詞修飾形容詞、動(dòng)詞等，譯成漢語相應(yīng)的修飾詞即可，譯為“……地”，在句中作狀語。可在翻譯實(shí)踐中，并非都如此。
一、英語-ly 副詞轉(zhuǎn)譯成其它詞類或句子。
1．轉(zhuǎn)譯成動(dòng)詞或動(dòng)詞性短語
When her husband climbed menacingly towards her, she threw herself out of the tree.
當(dāng)他丈夫爬上樹，面帶怒容逼近她時(shí)，她縱身向樹下跳去。
The advertisement was understandably less than effective.
該廣告收效甚微可以理解。
2．轉(zhuǎn)譯成形容詞或形容詞性短語
…so that King George would move out of England and settle peaceably in Delaware
……以便使喬治國(guó)王離開英國(guó)，在特拉華過平靜的生活。
He routinely radioed another agent on the ground．
他跟另一個(gè)地勤人員進(jìn)行了例行的無線電聯(lián)絡(luò)。
注：上述兩例中，英語動(dòng)詞譯成漢語名詞，修飾該動(dòng)詞的副詞相應(yīng)地轉(zhuǎn)譯成形容詞，修飾漢語名詞。
3．轉(zhuǎn)譯成名詞或名詞性短語
The risks involved in doing this are high, however, because good themes are often culturally oriented.
然而這樣做的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)是很大的，因?yàn)楹玫闹黝}常常是適應(yīng)文化的。
4．轉(zhuǎn)譯成介詞短語
Montreal (host of the 1976 Summer Games) reportedly lost 1 billion.
據(jù)報(bào)道，蒙特利爾（1976年夏季奧運(yùn)會(huì)的東道主）損失了10億美元。
5．副詞自身或與被修飾的詞轉(zhuǎn)譯成固定短語或成語
Jim proudly insists on taking the consequences of his cowardly action．
吉姆自尊自重，堅(jiān)持要承擔(dān)自己懦弱行為所造成的惡果。
We may safely say so.
我們這樣說萬無一失。
6．將句子副詞譯成句子
A grenade thrown from the tower burst harmlessly on the ground．
炮樓里扔出一顆手榴彈，在地上爆炸，但沒有傷到人。（轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系）
二、英語-ly副詞轉(zhuǎn)譯后，在句中可充當(dāng)各種成分。
It was officially announced that…
官方宣布……（作主語）
The shores on either land were more than a half mile spart, but they seemed wonderfully far away.
雖然河兩岸之間的距離只有半英里多，但是它們似乎驚人地遙遠(yuǎn)。（作狀語）
The American firm was unknowingly advertising that "You could use no finer diaper at your dinner table."
這家美國(guó)公司沒有察覺到它的廣告是說“在餐桌上沒有比這更好的尿布了”。（作謂語）
President had prepared meticulously for his journey.
總統(tǒng)為這次出訪做了十分周密的準(zhǔn)備。（作定語）
三、譯-ly副詞時(shí)除用到詞類轉(zhuǎn)譯法，還使用了其它方法。
The subversion attempts proved predictably futile.
不出所料，顛覆活動(dòng)證明毫無效果。（英語從正面表達(dá)，譯文從反面表達(dá)。）
Many agreed that the Prime Minister had in effect resigned dishonorably．
許多人認(rèn)為首相辭職實(shí)際上是很丟面子的。（英語從反面表達(dá)，譯文從正面表達(dá)。）
The wretched run-down rail services of America are something I try, vainly, to forget.
美國(guó)鐵路交通的糟糕是一件我想盡力忘卻的事，可這是徒勞。（將句子副詞另行處理，置于句尾，用拆譯法）
