Eight master chess players in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, are set to wow fans with their remarkable skills at a neck-and-neck contest that begins late Monday.
The three-day competition is intended to act as a platform for face-to-face communication between local chess players and enthusiasts, said Xu Bo, an official of the Hefei Chess Federation. Xu added that it doesn’t matter who wins the game, only how delighted both players and spectators will be at the event.
The players are believed to be the most renowned chess masters in the city, ranging in age from 24 to 70 years old.
The contest offers free admission and is slated to run between 6:30 pm and 9 pm from Monday to Wednesday at Hefei Municipal Stadium.
