The number of people in Fujian with over 6 million yuan in assets is 109,000, ranking seventh among all provinces and municipalities across China.

The total number of high net worth Chinese reached 2.9 million by the end of 2013, an increase of 3.6 percent from the previous year.

Geographically, 44 percent of the rich people are from East China, followed by North China and South China.

Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai and Zhejiang rank tops, accounting for 61 percent of the total.

The number of Chinese with high net worth is expected to rise to 3.35 million over the next three years, according to the research institute.
