An investment of 1.2 billion yuan ($193 million) will be injected to establish a new A-class hospital in Xiamen, Fujian Province, according to a statement announced by Xiamen Municipal People's Congress on Dec 25.

The project, conducted jointly by Xiamen Municipal Government and Shanghai Fudan University, one of the most prestigious universities in China, is planning to offer 800 beds in the inpatient department.

The statement also disclosed a series of ongoing projects as Xiamen aims to update its medical facilities with diversified sources of investments.

Xiamen Humanity Hospital, the first non-profit general hospital in Xiamen which is funded by Xiamen C&D Corporation, a state-owned enterprise, started construction on Dec 18. In order to provide a superior service to patients, the hospital is planning to invite a panel of experts from Taiwan to get advanced management skills.
