Sixiao Expressway wins the silver medal of National Quality Award

The China National Quality Award Appraisal Committee granted lately the silver medal of 2009 National Quality Award to Simao—Xiaomengyang Expressway (Sixiao Expressway) undertaken by CGGC No 5 Company.

The Sixiao Expressway is the only expressway crossing the tropical rainforest in China. The project cost the No 5 Company three years from June 2003 to June 2005. During that period, the construction staff upheld the concept of building an expressway in the way featuring ecological and environmental protection, carried out strict quality management, and well performed the contract, receiving widely praise. According to the appraisal of the supervision engineer, the acceptance rate of this project reaches 100 percent, and 98.3 percent of the project is excellent.
The National Quality Award was approved in 1981 by the State Council in the engineering construction field and is granted annually. The East Sea Bridge in Shanghai and Gongboxia hydropower station, both constructed by CGGC, received the golden medal in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
