The 40th anniversary celebration of Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in the Shabin Conference Center of Zhangjiagang city on Aug 13, Zhangjiagang Daily reported.

From a simple and crude hospital with limited medical resources, Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine has grown into a comprehensive Chinese medicine hospital which combines traditional medical treatments, teaching and research. It belongs to the second class rating of its kind in China, out of a total of six classes.

The hospital receives an average of 1.6 million patients every year. It conducts major scientific research projects at the national level, plus three at the provincial level and two at the municipal level.

Special forums on internal medicine, anti-tumor therapy and other topics were also held following the ceremony, where experts and officials probed into the issue of progress in research, and the nurturing of future professionals in the field.
