The Shanxi Photographers Association announced its first "Beautiful Shanxi" photo contest, on Sept 9 and says that photographers from China and abroad can submit their works in three categories -- natural settings, cultural landscape, and events. There are cash prizes totaling 20,000 yuan($3300).

Photographs from a camera as well as those from a mobile phone are being accepted. The deadline for entries is Oct 10. All entries have to be submitted online, at http://www.dajinnet.com(those taken with a camera have to submit a hard copy as well). Contest activities include an appreciation ceremony, traveling exhibits, and a published collection of the better works.
