EU expands sanction on Libya

BRUSSELS - The European Union (EU) decided on Tuesday to extend assets freeze to six Libyan ports in bids to ratchet up pressures on its embattled government.

"The Council of the European Union adopted a decision today extending the assets freeze to six Libyan port authorities," said an EU statement.

The decision went further on measures adopted in February, which introduced a travel ban and an assets freeze, while granting the necessary humanitarian exemptions.
