Ukraine to seek compensation from Russia

 Crimea crisis

KIEV - Ukraine will sue Russia at the international legal institutions to seek compensations for the damage caused by the crisis in Crimea, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk said here Friday.

"We are now conducting a serious discussion on Russia's financial responsibility for the events that occurred in Crimea," Yatsenyuk told reporters during a briefing.

Yatsenyuk said Kiev estimated losses from the Crimean crisis and the nationalization of Ukraine's property in the peninsula at "hundreds of billions of US dollars".

Earlier this week, the leaders of Crimea, who signed a treaty with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the peninsula's integration into Russia, voiced the plans to nationalize Ukraine's state companies and energy assets located on the peninsula.
