Chinese vice-premier stresses agricultural production, bumper harvest
HEFEI -- Chinese Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua on Thursday called for unremitting efforts to promote agricultural production and strive to accomplish the annual target of securing a bumper harvest.
All local authorities should work hard to boost summer grain production and ensure the harvest of summer grain and oil, said Hu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, when addressing a symposium in East China's Anhui province.
He urged smoothing channels for procuring the summer wheat and rice and solving problems in this regard, including issues with funding and warehouse storage.
Efforts should be made to expedite hog production and intensify regular prevention and control of the African swine fever.
Hu also stressed promoting the construction of modern agricultural facilities and consolidating the foundations of securing stable production and supply of major agricultural products, while strengthening any weak area in this regard.
