Henan's Li Jinzhai village taps local resources to boost economy

Li Jinzhai village, located in Yuzhou city of Henan province, is leveraging its regional and environmental resources to boost local economy, aligned with the nation's call for more prosperous communities.
The village, together with companies and organizations, has invested more than 3 million yuan developing agri-tainment (a form of entertainment which allows urban tourists to experience life of farmers like harvesting crops and fruits, living in farmers' houses), and theme parks because the village has abundant water resources such as swamps and ditches.
Li Xiaowei, Party secretary of Li Jinzhai village, said developing agri-tainment and theme park-related businesses has helped 14 families move out of poverty.
"We have also stepped up efforts to improve environment and residents' living conditions," Li said.
The village has adopted a comprehensive solid waste management system and a waste water disposal system. Waste water after being disposed was an important source of the village's wetland park, Li said.
