Beijing forum explores AI's role in cultural sector

A parallel forum to the Beijing Culture Forum was held in the capital on Tuesday, bringing together domestic and international internet leaders and scholars to discuss the intersection of innovative development and online culture.

Delegates examined the opportunities AI offers the cultural sector, while stressing the need to uphold ethical standards as new technologies reshape human life.

Liang Hao, secretary-general of the World Internet Conference, announced that the upcoming WIC would prioritize cultural heritage protection and highlight the role of cutting-edge scanning technologies powered by AI.

Latif Ladid, founder and president of the IPv6 Forum, praised China's advancements in IPv6, noting its potential to propel AI across various sectors.

IPv6, or Internet Protocol version 6, is the latest version of the set of rules governing how data is sent and received over the Internet.

A notable highlight of the event was two leading Chinese newspaper groups venturing into large language models to create corpora for local media outlets.

Additionally, a corpus in the Laotian language was developed by a Chinese online company to help the people of Laos improve their efficiency in acquiring knowledge through ChatGPT.
