Former head of Central South University under investigation

Zhang Yaoxue, former president of Central South University in Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party disciplines and national laws, the country's top anti-corruption watchdogs announced on Friday.
The investigation has been disclosed online by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, with no further details released.
Public information shows that Zhang, 69, a native of Hunan, joined the Party in 1987, and worked for China's education system for decades.
He obtained his Doctor's Degree of Engineering from Tohoku University in Japan in 1989 and was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2007.?
He held positions at Tsinghua University, the Ministry of Education and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.?From October 2011 to May 2017, he served as the president of Central South University.
