In Dunhuang, Gansu province, where evaporation is 50 times greater than rainfall, land once considered barren is now thriving thanks to subsurface drip irrigation and organic soil treatment. By delivering water directly to roots and pushing salt away, fields once deemed unfit for farming are now producing what locals call "golden eggs". The Dunhuang Model shows how science and patience can turn extreme landscapes into productive farmland.
