Beijing set to open 8th railway station soon
The Chinese capital will operate its eighth railway station, the Beijing Sub-center Station in Tongzhou district, by the end of this year, transportation authorities announced at a news conference on Thursday.
With all eight railway stations now connected to subway lines, officials emphasized the convenience of transportation within the capital.
Regional rail connectivity has seen remarkable progress with the launch of the Beijing-Harbin high-speed railway, the Beijing-Xiong'an intercity line and the opening of the Yizhuang Station on the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has largely established a travel circle of 1 to 1.5 hours between its major cities, with a one-hour commuter belt around Beijing taking shape.
