No chances of martial law in Pakistan: PM

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday assured the National Assembly that there would be no martial law in the country as no one including the civil society, media and world would accept it, reported local media APP.

He said "We should not provide such chances which can derail democracy."

The prime minister appreciated statement of leader of the opposition and PML-N head Nawaz Sharif for giving statements in support of democracy.

The prime minister said that democracy was the only way out of this country, adding that it was irrelevant who would be in power. He said that when there would be no democracy in the country then the entire nation would struggle for it.

Prime Minister Gilani said that democracy was restored in the country after great sacrifices by all the political parties, workers and its protection was our collective responsibility.
